Short notes from the studio

Should be on X!

  • Friction is the signalπŸ’Ž version 1.0August 102026You may wonder why the studio is working on so many products simultaneously. I know I do! One of the reasons is that complexity is the goal. Having agents become each other's first customers is somewhere between β€œit works on my laptop” and the cruel world of production. Similarly, friction is the signal. When things I want or need to do are impossible for my agents and still hard for me, that suggests the shape of something that needs to exist. If we can't find a suitable solution, we build it!
  • Attention is the fixed constraintπŸ’Ž version 1.0August 32026It seems absurd to think about a world where it takes longer to read a book than it does to write one. But here we are. Now I am not saying that that book is likely to be good, but as a first-time reader with unvetted content, that's a risk. This has a lot of implications. On one hand it raises the bar of what we can and should engage with. It increases the value of curation. It also completely shakes up the notion of who should be building what in all sorts of interesting ways.
